During new home construction mistakes can be made which compromise a basement or foundations’ ability to stay dry. In other words the basement/ foundation may be vulnerable to leakage. Some of the mistakes include; hurried construction, backfilling around a home’s foundation in a hurried manner may cause crushing of some of the drain tile placed around the perimeter of the house. Poorly installed drain tile or improper gutter placement can fail to keep water away from the home. The use of substandard sealants applied to the concrete may allow dampness to penetrate.
